Moms know what it is like, especially, to juggle the schedule of two or three people at once. This is also true for management professionals. Let's explore.
Are you juggling your schedule, in addition to that of one or more other people? For example, do you find yourself making appointments and running errands for everyone else except for yourself? You are not alone. That is the focus of this art journal prompt.
For this mixed media art journal prompt, you will need the following materials:
- Art journal
- Calendar pages (actual pages or print-out’s)
- Ballpoint pen
- Black ultra-fine sharpie
- Heavy-duty glue stick
- Post-it notes (or paper similar size)
- Yellow highlighter
- Watercolor paper
- Paint or sponge brushes
- Small containers of water
- Waxed paper
Follow these simple instructions to complete this mixed media art journal prompt:
- Open your art journal to the first blank page spread. Add a piece of waxed paper behind each page in the spread to protect the rest of the pages in your art journal.
- Create a watercolor wash over the entire page spread. Use several of your favorite colors and blot it throughout the page spread. Do not worry if the colors match or if it looks messy. Just have fun getting the color down. Allow the page spread to dry completely. You can speed up the drying time through use of a heat gun or a hair dryer.
- Tear along the edges of the calendar pages to create a deckled edge. (Option: add walnut distress ink to the edges to give them added dimension when affixed to the page.) If the calendar page does not fit with a two or three inch border all the way around, continue tearing until you reach the appropriate size.
- Affix the calendar pages to the journal spread using the heavy-duty glue stick. Be sure the edges are secured firmly.
- Using the ballpoint pen, create a faux schedule for every day showing on the pages. (Option: to create a more interesting appearance, use several different colored pens.) Circle some days, add yellow highlighter, make notes, scribble notes out, put an “x” through days, and so on.
- Add the post-it notes using the heavy-duty glue stick to random parts of the page spread. On these, write out all your frustrations about having to juggle so much. Write out your feelings, possible solutions, resources that could help you, and people you can reach out to for help and support.
Repeat this art journal prompt on as many page spreads as needed to completely convey your feelings, thoughts, and frustrations. Do not be surprised if you find yourself dedicating an entire page spread for every person’s schedule you have to juggle. Consider creating these journal pages with a friend or family, and then looking to each other for support and advice.
