Almost every day of the week one can find an art challenge that is due. Here is a list of some of the ones that are currently taking place.

Editor's Choice

Online art challenges help stimulate the creativity plus they are also fun to join. Artists get to share their work and see what other artists are doing. Most art challenges are open to anyone who wishes to join, no matter if you are a beginner or a seasoned artist. Usually different mediums are all allowed like mixed -media collages, illustrations, paintings and drawings. Artists can use paints, pens, pencils, paper, ephemera or even fabric as long as they create a work based on the theme that is given for that week.

Show and Tell Sundays

This online challenge is hosted by Cerri Campbell and Analise Sledd. As the name says, every Sunday members of the group post photos that show their vintage collections or items according to the theme chosen by Cerri, Analise or a guest host. Themes are usually related to something vintage like vintage figurines, vintage papers, vintage aprons or vintage art.

Sunday Postcard Art

This blog is hosted by Mandy Chilvers and Donna Ratcliff. All art must be presented on a postcard ( 6" x 4"). An average of 35-50 players using mixed-media, stamping, collage and illustrations usually play each week. Examples of past themes have been: hearts, chairs, circles and Mardi Gras.

Mixed-Media Monday

This site is for mixed-media artists to show their work according to each weekly theme. Some past themes have been heroes, time, and heart and wings.

Inspire Me Thursday

Hosted by Melanie Komisarski since February 2006. It allows art, words and photography that follow the weekly theme. This site has a Feed Your Muse section that can be used for inspiration on the chosen theme. Past themes have been the moon, the beach and nautical.

Theme Thursday

Started the spring of 2008, the purpose of this challenge is to prevent "blog burnout". This is a relaxed site, that does not have many rules nor requires membership. Paper art, collage, paint, mixed-media, etc...are allowed.

Illustration Friday

Every Friday a theme is posted and anyone who desires can join. Some past themes have been lace, silver, and time.

4 x 4 Friday

As long as the artists work within these dimensions and the theme they are welcome. Past challenges have been to make art using stencils, grungeboard and statues.

Make a Moo or Two

This site is hosted by a group of people from Holland. One side of the blog is written in English and the other in Dutch. Every Friday a new theme is picked and participants show their art using a moo. A moo is a very small rectangular card measuring 1.1" by 2.8". For those artists who like to work on a small scale, this is definitely their blog! Participants can send in as many moos as they want, but the site will only showcase two. This site also has a section for trading moos by mail. Examples of past themes are: playing cards, Marie Antoinette and the number one.

To join some of these challenges the player might need to already have a blog or belong to a photo-sharing site. Participants leave a comment at the challenge blog with a direct link to a picture of their work as it appears posted in their blog or photo-sharing site. This is really the only requirement needed, plus a good dose of creativity!
