Mail art is a great opportunity for mixed media artists to continue the act of daily or weekly art making. It is also great for those who like to create a large volume of work, and then move it out of their workspaces relatively quickly. That is part of the reason why I decided to become a mail artist.
Another reason why I decided to become a mail artist is because I loved the idea of working in traveling journals, and starting a traveling journal. I have been part of some very successful mail art projects, as well as some failures. That is par for the course, though, so it best not to complain.
I miss mail art and actively participating in mail art projects. I had to give it up for a period of time because of the costs associated with reproducing work to give to other mail artists participating, as well as postage. I will get back into this again, though. I aspire to do so! Are you currently a mail artist? If not, is this something you have wanted to try?
