The Goal: Create art everyday during the month of October! This is a group of both novice and professional artsits, so all are welcome to participate!

It's that time of year again!

ArtSoMoFo: 2007

This project has been part of my yearly artistic rituals since it was created in 2005. The goal is to create a piece of art (either finished or unfinished) during everyday in October. If you haven't noticed, this is very similar to what the National Novel Month site challenges writers to do. Only, in this case, it's geared toward artists.

It doesn't matter what kind of artist you are:

  • mixed media
  • painting: watercolor, oil, acrylic
  • sculpting
  • woodworking
  • crafting
  • scrapbooking
  • sketching
  • pastels
  • assemblage
  • doll making
  • beading
  • fiber arts
  • altered art or found art artist

The list could go on. The point is, if you're interested in art becoming an everyday habit then this is the project for you. I've been striving to achieve the goal of daily art making beyond that of ArtSoMoFo and I'm getting closer thanks to this community of artists. My goals are:

  1. work in my art journal at least once per day
  2. complete at least one piece of art to sell each week
  3. create at least one glue-to book
  4. start (finish?) an acrylic painting
  5. start (finish?) a mixed media painting
  6. start (finish?) a watercolor painting
  7. finish the painting altered book that was started months ago
  8. finish children's altered book
  9. write an article during each business day for this topic (It WILL come back to life, promise!)
  10. plan scrapbook pages for November's Disney trip
  11. work on 31 ATCs (or ACEOs if they're for sale)
  12. work on pre-cut 4x4 papers
  13. make two journals
  14. read through portrait how-to books, practice sketching them

This list isn't set in stone, but merely presented as an example of how I'd like this month to go. Your list could be simpler or more complex depending on what you'd like to see happen. I hope you'll consider joining us!
