Graceful Envelope Call For Entries

Have you heard of or participated in this annual event? Mail artists have taken this idea and spun into amazing mixed media art creations. Here is their call.

The Calligraphers Guild is currently seeking Graceful Envelope Contest entries. From their website:

“2008 CALL FOR ENTRIES: Calligraphers and artists from around the world are invited to participate in the 14th annual Graceful Envelope Contest, conducted by the Washington (DC) Calligraphers Guild under the sponsorship of the National Association of Letter Carriers. The contest is open to all ages, with two separate categories for children.

This year's theme is C's the Day!

C is for calligraphy, correspondence, mail carrier and everything C-worthy. "C" how creative you can be as you design an envelope around anything that begins with the letter "C" and address it artistically to: The Graceful Envelope Contest, Washington Calligraphers Guild, P.O. Box 3688, Merrifield, VA 22116. Envelopes must be postmarked by Wednesday, April 30.”

There is still time to get your work created and get an entry in! Visit their website to view examples of past entries. These works are so inspiring it may be enough just to visit in order to break out of artist’s block.
