Think beyond the box [of candy] this holiday season, as well as beyond the traditional handmade card. Create for you!
As we embark upon another day of romance, do you have specific Valentine’s Day projects planned? When was the last time you gave a handmade gift of love to your sweetie? When was the last time you created a gift of love for yourself?
I think that’s the more important question to ask, honestly. As they say, if you love yourself then your ability to love others is greater. So, here’s your mission as we approach this holiday. Choose one or more of the following:
- Create an art journal page spread dedicated to things you love
- Write a love letter in your art journal and art it up
- Start an altered book project about you: the things you love, what you love about yourself, what you love about your life and so on
- Make an envelope book, then fill it and embellish it with your favorite things
It’s difficult to some to embrace themselves in such a way as this. It’s worth the effort, though. Once you begin, you’ll wonder why you hadn’t done it sooner. Other ideas include, creating something from the cards and gifts you receive, buy yourself some flowers and press them into projects, and make some decorations to hang throughout your home.
