Overseas art journal collaboration. This journal was passed between two artists in Brooklyn and two in Belfast.

When I first stumbled across this site (through link exploration on another blog), I couldn't believe my eyes. To me this isn't only a thing of beauty, but it's also a huge accomplishment.

Why do I think it's a thing of beauty?

For various reasons. It's a work of art created with no real focus or plan outside of adding and filling pages -- it grew and changed by the hand of each of the four artists making it truly belong to itself.

Why do I think it's a huge accomplishment?

I've collaborated in numerous travelling art projects, some with measured success, some with complete success and some with failure. Each attempt was modest, but made with hopes that the piece would return home intact and possibly complete. If any of you have contributed or started such a project, you understand the disappointment experienced with the project is lost or damaged.

So, to see something like this complete, intact and done so without getting lost is truly inspiring. It's inspired me to create more of these projects, encourage others to create them and encourage others to participate in them. For the artist who is looking for daily work (without holding on to every single piece created), such collaborations offer a lot of gratification.
